What is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a prosthetic dental device designed to “bridge” the gap left by one or more missing teeth, restoring both function and appearance. A bridge consists of a false tooth (or teeth), known as a pontic, which is securely anchored by attaching to adjacent natural teeth or dental implants on either side of the gap. This provides stability and closely mimics the look and function of natural teeth.
To place a dental bridge, the adjacent teeth are properly prepared in order to effectively act as supports, or abutments, for the crowns. The artificial teeth are then carefully crafted to match the shape, colour and size of your natural teeth for a seamless look. Once in position, a dental bridge not only fills the space left by missing teeth but also helps maintain proper alignment, supports oral health and improves bite function. In addition to their functional benefits, dental bridges offer an aesthetically pleasing solution for missing teeth, allowing you to enjoy a complete and confident smile. The Heritage Dental Centre team is eager to help you achieve optimal oral health and a beautiful smile with dental bridges.
